Department of Defense (DoD) Environmental Liability Policy
Innovate provided the primary authorship and development of a recommendations report to the Office of the Deputy Under Secretary of Defense (ODUSD) Installations & Environment (I&E) Business Enterprise Integration (BEI) detailing how the Air Force, Army, Marine Corps, and Navy can effectively and consistently document, spatially map, reconcile, and annually report environmental liabilities. This report leveraged existing Department of Defense (DoD) management practices and data as much as possible while also recommending implementation of new data storage rules and procedures. A key aspect to the report was the prototyping of a data relationship model where existing spatial data could be linked to existing business assets held in non-spatially enabled legacy databases. This model transforms information while reducing redundancy or redevelopment costs. The outcome of the recommendations report was a consistent DoD wide process and set of operating principles ensuring long term sustainability and discovery of information as well as alignment to enterprise data models.
